FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

What do I need to enter to locate a participant on the live GPS tracking map?

Search is based on personal data or starting number — simply enter a name, surname, or starting number on the live tracking page and the system will show the participant's GPS position on the map.

What exactly will a person watching the live GPS tracking see on the screen?

For each participant, we display their current GPS position on the map along with a rich set of live statistics: speed (current, average, pace), distance covered and remaining to finish, elevation profile (ascent done and remaining, current altitude), time on route, estimated finish time (ETA), live ranking position, and difference to the time limit and best result. The event organizer decides which of these statistics are visible to spectators. During GPS coverage loss, there may be slight delays.

What should a participant do before the start after receiving the GPS tracker? Where to place it?

After turning it on beforehand (we suggest turning it on 15-20 minutes before the start), place the GPS tracker near the top of your backpack, but inside — to protect it from rain. The device is compact (4x8 cm, approx. 100 g), so it won't be a burden. Important: keep the tracker away from NRC (thermal) foil and never place it inside a bike frame — the metal frame acts as a Faraday cage and blocks the GPS signal.

Where should I return the GPS tracker after the race?

We leave it to the organizers, but usually at the finish line there will be a suitcase/box for returning GPS trackers right next to the Poltrax flag. Most often, next to our suitcase, you will also find a place to return timing chips.

I took the GPS tracker home, what now?

It's not the end of the world :) Please let the organizer know, and send the GPS tracker by parcel to the following address:

Michał Piórkowski

604 47 33 12 / [email protected]

Paczkomat WAW192M (Warsaw, Gwiaździsta 13)

Is the participant's position on the live tracking map actual or estimated?

Our live GPS tracking page shows the current position along with real-time statistics. Based on the participant's pace and remaining distance, the system also estimates the expected finish time (ETA) — this feature activates after the first hour of the race. We save all GPS positions in the database, so you can later review the entire route with times at given points (for example, for verification by race judges). The position refresh rate depends on the nature of the event and is agreed with the organizer — typically every minute, but we can go as often as every second.

Is the Poltrax GPS tracker waterproof?

GPS trackers are only splash-resistant, which is why we always provide them with an included zip-lock bag — please keep the device in this bag for the entire duration of the event. The tracker should not be exposed directly to rain, even inside the protective bag.

Does the GPS tracker turn on automatically at the start or does the participant have to activate it themselves?

We charge the devices to full and deliver them turned off so that the battery lasts the entire competition. Before the start (preferably 15-20 minutes), the participant should turn it on themselves with the physical button located on top of the device. It's worth noting that positions on the live GPS tracking page appear 15 minutes before start, and the device will automatically turn off after crossing the finish line.
